Judges
The Book of Judges occupies a significant place as the seventh book within both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament. Positioned strategically within the broader narrative of the Hebrew Bible, the Book of Judges chronicles a specific period in Israelite history.
More precisely, it encompasses the era that transpired between the events of the conquest, which are vividly detailed in the preceding Book of Joshua, and the subsequent establishment of a unified kingdom, an event which is extensively documented in the Books of Samuel. This period was characterized by the leadership of figures known as Biblical judges.
These judges were not permanent rulers in the traditional sense, but rather they served as temporary leaders.
